He took his oath of office as the 16th President of the Republic of the Philippines yesterday (June 30) in Malacanang, the presidential office. Before becoming president, he was a long-serving Mayor of Davao City in southern Philippines. He is a lawyer by profession and the first president of the country from Mindanao.
