In Pakistan, the Sindh High Court declared former President General Pervez Musharraf ineligible for Parliament membership. A three member bench led by Chief Justice Maqbool Baqir said yesterday that Musharraf does not meet the criteria set in Articles 62 and 63 of the Constitution. The bench further said that decisions taken by Musharraf led to Pakistan’s image being hurt.

The detail verdict has been released by the court. Election officials have barred him from running for the National Assembly, effectively derailing his attempts to regain a place in politics by standing at the polls. Musharraf had returned to Pakistan in March 2013 after nearly four years of self imposed exile to contest the May 11th general election.
